Re: Choosing a Holiday Plan

As you are aware, the company offers twelve holidays to all of its employees annually, eleven of which are the public holidays. The last one is a bonus holiday that has been decided every year through a company-wide voting system. Recently, we received suggestions from some of you that everyone should be able to take the last holiday at a date of his/her own choice. The management looked into the matter and believes that it may be possible to institute the ‘floating holiday’ policy with slight variations.

The proposal under consideration is to offer each employee the choice to choose his/her own date for as long as the staffing needs within individual departments can be fulfilled. In addition, the preference will be given to the most senior employee/s if there are more than one holiday requests for the same day and it is not possible to accommodate all of them. Before such a policy is instituted, the management has decided to hold a company-wide referendum to ensure the new proposal has the support of the majority. Thus, everyone is advised to visit the company’s online announcement board to vote whether they prefer the company’s existing holiday policy or support the new proposal. The voting deadline is 12:00 a.m. on April 6, 2011. Please don’t hesitate to contact the human resources department if you have any questions or require information about the new proposal.
