Throughout the first two modules we have obtained enough knowledge, in order for us to become decent writers. While it is true that we do have quite a lot ahead of us, what we have already left behind gives us a perfect background for future writing. In this essay, I will elaborate myself on what exactly was precious about our learning, and what exactly have we gained, while going over the first and second modules.

The first paper that we worked on was explaining an idea, belief, or attitude, and learning the basics of writing a paper, which included: thesis, body and support, conclusion. As far as you can see, we started from scratch, covering the very basics of writing and preparing ourselves for future and more complicated tasks. Among the other fundamental things, we have realized that concrete is more effective than abstract, that specific details are vital, and that emphasizing quality is more important that underlining quantity.

Secondly, we have obtained the knowledge of writing persuasive essays. There is no doubt that an ability to persuade your audience is crucial in the contemporary world of fierce competition. We have learned to develop and strong argument and topic, identify the audience that we are addressing the speech to, provide the paper with a well-supported and referenced research, and, of course, composing a strong conclusion. I believe that this type of writing is especially valuable for becoming a good writer, due to the fact that persuading people is not an easy task, especially in business sphere. Consequently, after completing the module we laid a keystone for our future careers, and undoubtedly, increased our ability as writers.

In the third competency we have been writing responses to a number of literature pieces. If you think of it for a moment, you will realize that we critically think of everything we read; however, being able to criticize something calls for a good knowledge of awareness of the subject. Therefore, writing a response paper adds to our list of becoming better writers, as far as we are learning how to read, what exactly to read, catch the main idea or moral, and write what you think of it, establishing your response on certain degree of knowledge and research. What makes this type of writing difficult is to understand the author’s point of view, and critically discuss it. As a matter of fact writing response letters is perhaps the most common style of writing, which means that we have already reached a decent level writing.

Lastly, the forth competency offered us the most complicated tasks of all. We were supposed to write a documented research paper, which required the accumulation of all our knowledge and strength. While preparing for writing this paper, we were obliged to make a vast research in a library or on the web, in order to supply our thesis with necessary facts and data. What was interesting was that we had to apply a certain format of writing with different rules and guidelines for each of them. Becoming acknowledged with any of the formats gives you a huge advantage in writing such kind of papers, and, undoubtedly, makes you a better writer.
