Real Estate in New Zealand – Essay Sample

Real Estate in New Zealand – Essay Sample

If the citizens of New Zealand are turning more to property investments rather than finance companies, they are simply reflecting a caution that can be seen worldwide. Since the 1980s, there have been massive issues in financial institutions that were thought to be secure. In today’s globalized world, virtually everyone has been affected. Money once thought to be securely invested in such companies has vanished. The traditional sense that a major brokerage house or savings and loan institution automatically meant financial security is gone, and people everywhere have lost their trust in these organizations. What this has led to is a return to what people believe cannot ever be “taken” from them: real estate. New Zealanders, like people of other industrialized nations, have actually come around to a way of thinking as old as humanity, in regard to what can be depended upon. As the old real estate motto claims, “under all is the land.” It lasts far beyond societies and civilizations, and is something far more substantial than a financial sheet or investment portfolio. It is true that the property market is as subject to fraud and economic downturns as much as any activity in any financial arena. The difference, however, is that property is a tangible asset. Real estate is, in a word, “real”, and New Zealanders are coming to value this approach as deeply as did their ancestors. Provided the investment is made securely, property is the safest way to go in a world where even the most enormous finance companies go under, either through poor management or fiscal offenses.
