In this article, Hood takes a close look at the site distribution data of Pre-Dorset and MAI in Northern Labrador in order to be able to understand the social boundary in relations between the two culturally different groups who existed approximately in 4000-3500BC. The MAI being the first to inhabit Labrador had several advantages that helped them to develop and enhance the surrounding world. On the other hand, Pre-Dorset penetrated new areas which they were absolutely not acknowledged with and came across the landscape that had been occupied by MAI for more than 3000 years and, consequently, have been restricted to expand without restraints. In his article, Hood is basically trying to highlight the social or ethnic boundaries with prehistoric archaeological records. By pointing out the coexistence between the two cultures for about 600 hundred years dated by the radiocarbon, Hood’s demonstration did not seem to be supportive to his statement and, as a result, has an insignificant verification in demonstrating the coexistence between the two cultures. Hoods versions are mainly supported by the evidence found in the more southern areas occupied by MAI and northern areas occupied by Pre-Dorset, which does not mean that they dwelled in same areas during the same period of time, even though there is a possibility that MAI got Ramah Chert from the northern Labrador.
