The requirements of accreditation and the compliance inherent therein, make specific choices and paths unavailable, particularly in today’s medical field. Events as simple as quality and performance improvement activities have to go through an entire process just to receive the proper ‘go ahead’s’ from the correct authorities before actions can be taken and anything can actually commence. If these particular loop holes were something that could simply be thrown out, or overlooked, a whole new horizon of activities could be called upon to liven things up and change the usual tone of such events.

What, specifically, is being called for here? Quite simply put, the possibilities are going to be endless in the event that accreditation compliance issues are thrown out the proverbial window. Naturally other issues, such as budget will play an issue still, but that, along with any other potential problems could be easily circumvented.

Still, more trips and retreats may become available, allowing for, not only a greater sense of community and family among the employees, but also an increase in the level or relaxation, and so efficiency, within the staff as well. This would also lead straight into having fewer in- fights and bickering among the workers as well because the good feelings produced through camaraderie would allow for more ‘non- sense’ to be tolerated before anything could actually come to a head.

All in all, without the aforementioned loops of bureaucracy to jump through, the number of available activities would increase dramatically. In additions, so too would the theortical number of activities due to the fact that the paper work would not be so strenuous, and time consuming, to complete. If perhaps accreditation and sanctioning for events, retreats, group building, and the like were relaxed a bit, some of the benefits could still be felt, without doing away with the system entirely.
