The Right Choice is Organic – Essay Sample

Did you know that organic foods are known to have 50% of nutrients minerals and vitamins?  Also, you wont consume the pollutants and chemicals that non-organic foods generate.  As parents, or soon-to-be parents, would you allow your children to eat chemicals?  I highly doubt it! However, majority of the time, when an individual consumes any non-organic food, there is a high chance of attaining chemicals.  Organic foods are much healthier than non-organic foods for several reasons.

Overall, organic foods demonstrate examples of a healthy environment.  The farming techniques used to grow organic foods are much cleaner and safer for the environment, as well as our families and ourselves.  Did you know if you eat a non-organic apple, there is a high chance of consuming over 30 pesticides?  However, with organic foods, you wont consume any pesticides, and you can imagine the difference in taste.  Organic farms decrease pesticides and chemicals into tap, which keeps cleaner water in our drinking system.  Children who consume pesticides are at larger risk of developing numerous diseases and illnesses in the future, which may include cancer, developmental problems, neurological diseases and reproductive impairment. Nevertheless, in non-organic foods, the soil is constantly introduced to dangerous pesticides that develop into the foods that we eat, which can ultimate ruin our bodies in the process.  On the other hand, organic foods are farmed with safer and healthier farming techniques, which prevent any dangerous chemicals and or pesticides nurturing in our food.

Another benefit in organic foods is that organic foods have shown to preserve healthy minerals, such as iron and zinc that is needed for your body.  These minerals have demonstrated significant benefits within health benefits.  For example, these minerals have demonstrated a decrease in the prevention of heart disease risks, and have also prevented the risk of cancer.

However, some may argue that the high cost of organic foods may cost much more money than non-organic foods.  Though the costs of organic foods are higher than the cost of non-organic food, the benefits for every individual is wealth the high-cost in the long run.  Simon Wright and Diane McCrea found that “84% of people thought organic food was too expensive, and as many as 77% of those buying organic food at least once a month felt this way too.  Yet 37% of the public as a whole and 63% of regular organic consumers agreed with the proposition that ‘organic food tends to be more expensive but it is a price worth paying.”  This indicates that some individuals are aware of the benefits within consuming organic foods.  One benefit is that organic food has demonstrated to have a higher level of nutrient content than that of non-organic food products.  Therefore, children and babies will contain necessary nutrients that are beneficial for their developing bodies.  Also, by supporting the production of organic foods, each individual is contributing to a healthier environment.  The processes of manufacturing non-organic food have proved to be poisonous and harmful to the environment.  This is mainly because the processes of non-organic foods release several pesticides, which affects the quality of soil and worsens air pollution.

In essence, organic foods have demonstrated several beneficial aspects for adults, adolescents, and toddlers.  Although organic food may cost 30 percent more compared to non-organic foods, parents should release the long-term benefits organic food maintain. Though organic foods have become more and more popular recently, parents need to start making the correct choices for their children on a daily basis.  And the right choice is organic!
