In the traditional set up, Old heroes and communities had different relationships with the god and the gods. They depended on them in many different ways of life asking them for help in wars, they well being, protection from their enemies and the evil spirits and some even went to the extend of believing that they have a love relationship with them. The people and the communities paid their respect and communicated with the God and the in different and unique ways, the main thing was the faith they had.

In the old days, mostly it was the heroes and prominent people like the leaders whose relationships with God and the gods were marked with special interest. They asked and used god’s guidance in the wars against their enemies, wisdom to rule their territories and divine protection against the evil demonic spirits (Ernst, p87).

The following are some of the examples the in history that showed the position and human kind relation with God and the gods basing on his nature, the society belief and their faith.

In the Greek history, The Trojan war, written in the poem Odysseus. In the story above we can see the relationship between the Trojan prince and the gods. The gods are seen to favor the prince in his ruling especially in the battles and wars, he is seen to be protected and helped to win wars. The two communicated in form of fire. We can see from the events how hector managed to kill his enemies but eventually dies.

When he dies, it’s believed that both men and the god accepted this though they sincerely didn’t like that nor had a choice against it no matter what they wished. It’s also showed that even though in the olden days people believed in their gods, there were other supreme beings beyond their understanding. In our case, the gods and the people settled on the working of fate as the one responsible for the happening and the loss of their hero.

They believed that the gods determined every actions and happening, incident and occurrence but doesn’t determine the outcome of life. Hector had this in mind at the time he was killing Patroclus. They believed in many gods who had different responsibilities, like god Zeus had control over Air and the sky, god posidon the waters and god Hades over the underworld, the land that was believed to be of the dead but they all shared the dominion of the Earth. They concluded that despite the powers of the Olympic gods that were mostly earthly, there were only three fates that set the destiny of Man.

Another Case s the in the ancient Egypt. The story is about Danaids. The outline is about the Danaids who was fleeing from forced marriage. On his new home, he was entitled to protection from King Pelasgus but he ignored this and opted to put his faith on the Greek god. He is also seen to refuse the people decision, the Argive people, who made their choice in the favor of Danaids but for him he gave all the praise to the Greek gods.

It was seen after the death of Darius, Atossa requests the ghost of his husband in the chorus for some remedy. This shows that she believed in the supernatural powers. It’s also said that the ghost of Darius prophesizes another defeat for the Persian in the battle of Plataea and its quoted saying, “the mother of disasters awaits them there”

Still in the ancient Greek, narrated by the poem ‘Prometheus Bound’. It’s unfolding on Aeschylus, Prometheus who was a Tiran and was punished by the gods, also known as the Zeus. His was charged for “giving fire to mankind”. He was punished for more reason apart from ‘stealing fire’. He also opposed the Zeus plans as he wanted to oblirate the human race. This was a form of revenge as in the past the two had great relationship and depended on each other (Erin, p56). For example Prometheus was behind the Zeus victory in the Titanomachy.
