Since its appearance, religion became probably one of the most influential aspects of human life.  In the contemporary world, the diversity of religions is a common sight, and in most of the developed countries, the right to choose a religion is not violated.  However, what exactly does your religion give you? Which is the practical use of religion?

If you take my case, religion is a marvelous path to socialization.  People of the same faith and beliefs gather together in churches, houses, and simply in the street to discuss the problems, questions, and issues that bother them, or simply to chat. My parents were Christian, and I bring up my children to be Christian as well. Therefore, I can proudly say that my religion greatly influences me, my family, and everything I do.

Although, there are not too many similarities between Christianity and other religions, I can still name some similar practices, for instance, prayer in both Christianity and Islam is a way of communicating with God. Another similarity between these two religions is the fasting practice: it is done for religious purposes and carries spiritual reward.  There are many things that are alike in Christianity and Hinduism as well, for example: the exploit of incense, sacred bread, the different altars around churches (which remind of the manifold deities in their niches in the interior of Hindu temples), performing prayers on the rosary, the Christian Trinity and many others.

In conclusion I want to state that religion has a great impact on our everyday life.  It helps us to communicate, to live fairly, to develop, and to coexist.  Therefore, it does not really matter what religion a person is exercising, but what role does it play in his/her life.
