One reason for legalizing abortion is the idea that abortion is a private matter and, undoubtedly, a matter of chose of every single woman in the United States. If we violate the right to chose, then why do we call the society we are living in, a free democratic society? Many people consider abortion to be a moral issue; however, it is, furthermore, a constitutional concern. It is a woman’s right to choose what she does with her body, and it must not be distorted or pressured by anyone else. This right is assured by the ninth amendment, which encloses the right to confidentiality. The ninth amendment utters: “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people” (United States Constitution). This right certifies the right to women, if they decide, to obtain an abortion, until the end of the first trimester. Abortion deals with one’s personal life and is not supposed to have anything to do with the governmental authority. Many people attempt to force their beliefs on others and critic them for their acts. These people need to evaluate themselves before they commence to evaluate others. The bottom line is no matter what anyone assumes the laws articulate for themselves. It is a woman’s privilege to confidentiality to control her reproductive system assured by the constitution.

The last, but certainly not the least argument for legalizing abortion is the fact that children who are born and are not wanted by their parents suffer and do not lead a decent life. Such children usually appear due to the fact that women either did not have a chance to get an abortion or thought that she will be punished for such an act by the government. If the family decides to keep the child rather than desert him and escape like criminals, he/she is usually treated as the main cause of all the troubles, either financial or emotional, that happen to the family members. Undoubtedly, one can state that every child is a wanted child as far as there is nothing greater then have a kid. However, there is sound evidence that a child who was born ‘compulsory’, does not get the same amount of attention, care, cannot show his true capabilities, suffer from inequality with family members and peers. One Swedish study concluded that such a child “runs a risk of having to surmount greater mental and social handicaps than its peers . . .” (Forssman). Another study stated that compulsory childbearing has varied and sometimes unfavorable consequences for the subsequent life of the child, which proves that such children are extremely underprivileged.

After all kind of reasons, data, and statistics that I have shown you, I believe that there should not be any doubts on whether abortion has to be legalized or not. One has to think about the lives of healthy, able to work women who have to conduct abortions in secret thus putting themselves at risk of death or serious consequences. One has to remember about the society he or she is living in and the rights that are protected by one of the best Constitutions in the world. One has to realize and face the fact that children who were born without the mother’s will, are going to suffer and who knows what will come out of such kids. Therefore, my conclusion is the following: abortion must be legalized to pursue the justice, freedom, and health!
