Will technological and medical advances stop hunger, drudgery and unemployment in the U.S.?
” I feel that technological and medical advances aren’t extremely reliable to end hunger disease, drudgery and unemployment within the United States. I feel that technology is constantly failing Americans with power outages, viruses, and/or computer crashes. Therefore, it doesn’t make enough sense to me how technology would terminate all hunger disease, drudgery and unemployment. I feel that technology and medical advances have to be completely flawless before trying to achieve major accomplishments such as these.
“By the early 1960s, acute medical interventions in the face of chronic disease and death, although ‘becoming commonplace, were questioned in the popular press. The hospital, seat of medical technology, was no longer isolated from question and criticism (Stevens 1996).” This exemplifies the struggles that hospital and the medical environment have had throughout the years. Though the issues should have advanced and approved throughout the years, our country has still not shown any improvement within medical and/or technology advancements. “We are still, in many ways, at the point we were in the early 1960s, for the underlying questions remain the same (Stevens 1996).” Therefore, I don’t believe the United States would gain any accomplishments or advantages by trying to use technology and medial advances to terminate hunger disease, drudgery and unemployment within the United States. I believe the United States should decide on a more successful way of trying to fix these issues that are being discussed.
