“Love your neighbor,” is what the Bible commands. For many centuries people are trying to follow this command, nonetheless, practically no one can fully understand its true meaning. Therefore, it creates an ethical dilemma that a lot of people face in their everyday life. I faced this problems myself, thus I want to share my thoughts about it.
One of the most popular and interesting dilemmas that I have ever experienced myself was the one about forgiveness. Throughout my life I was taught by my parents, teachers, and ordinary people, that “people should forgive other people.” This was always extremely strange to me as far as I consider certain things impossible to be forgiven, like murder, rape, deceive, and some other moral issues that are highly essential to be correct in. For instance, I have been thinking about how one can forget and forgive the Nazis? Is it possible to close your eyes on what they have done to millions and millions of people of Europe and Russia? They have tortured, massacred, and enslaved people, separating them from their families, relatives and homes. According to the famous saying, I have to forgive them for everything the Nazis have committed. A dilemma indeed. Would I war hero who had experienced all that ever forgive them? I doubt that, and neither can I even think about this possibility.
There are many ethical dilemmas that people think about; nonetheless, few can be solved.
