Playing on the senior tennis team at Kennedy Hills High School in Granada Hills, California during my sophomore through senior years has really helped influence my life today. The direction my life has taken since playing on the team has helped me develop motivation skills that sets me apart from other individuals my age. I have developed a vehemently strong competive edge in sports which has transferred to my educational studies and extra-cirricular activities as well.
Competitive sports such as tennis fosters teamwork, respect for classmates and elders, perserverance, allows young adults to stay physically fit, teaches them how to lose amongst other precious lessons. Team spirit is one of the most advantageous lessons young adults learn through competitive sports such as tennis which is essential when they surge into the workforce and into college/university studies. Everyone like a team player!
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends children and young adults obtain at least one hour of physical activity per day in order to keep their heart and emotional state of mind healthy. Children develop a great self-image through competition. They further learn to apply some of that perserverance in their school work. It is very difficult to lose, but learning to accept defeat teaches an invaluable lesson that builds future success. Through learning defeat a person gets stronger. Recognizing yours and others talents through competitive sports is the key to respecting yourself, others and learning every individual has something unique to offer in this world.
